Sometimes healing begins with the softest sound…a kitten’s purr in a too-quiet home.
In 2014, one family adopted a cat named Melvin from Antietam Humane Society. He was a beloved part of their lives for more than a decade. When he passed away last year, the loss left an ache that felt impossible to fill.
At one of our PetSmart adoption events, the family met Holly and Buxton: a bonded pair of kittens who clearly needed to stay together. Thanks to our no-kill mission, we were able to give them the time, care, and patience they needed until theright family came along. That family was still grieving. But as their adopter shared with us, Holly and Buxton are now “two little hearts helping ours heal.”
We are proud to partner with PetSmart in Chambersburg and Germantown to bring shelter cats closer to families. Through these partnerships, we have celebrated so many happy endings. In 2025 alone, 246 cats were adopted from our PetSmart locations! Each number represents a life saved and a family
made whole.
